Aquaman 2 Plot
What we only know about Aquaman 2’s plot, for now, is that it was movie writer David Leslie Johnson McGoldrick who spearheaded its story. He has previously worked with James Wan on two The Conjuring movies and the first Aquaman.
Director James Wan said that the second is “a little more serious and relevant in the world today.”
What does this all mean for Arthur Curry now that Aquaman has donned his classic green and gold armor, the Trident of Atlan, and is taking his place as Atlantis’ throne? Although he and Mera seemed to be an item at the end of the first movie, it was clear that the storytelling wouldn’t be straightforward this time.
David Hyde (aka Black Manta) seems primed to be promoted to Aquaman’s lead villain. Black Manta blames Arthur Curry for his father’s death while having a battle in the submarine from the original movie. With this, he has become obsessed with getting his revenge on Aquaman himself. He’s not likely to stop until Arthur Curry is gone, after surviving their first encounter by the skins of his teeth.
Black Manta is likely to be assisted by Dr. Shin, noting from the original Aquaman ending credits which showed them making a deal. Shin can help Black Manta find Aquaman, giving Black Manta concrete knowledge about the existence of Atlantis.
Unfortunately, the goal of Black Manta’s to make an act of revenge could be unfortunate for Thomas Curry if he decides that justice is best served by killing the man’s father, who he believes killed him.
Aquaman 2 will most probably make a return trip back to the Trench. This is the part of the ocean where monstrous creatures kept Atlanna captive in Aquaman.
