AMC’s The Walking Dead is planning to film in Grantville, GA over the next week. According to this article from Times-Herald.com:
Crews are expected to shoot interior footage at 16 Main St. beginning Thursday, with outdoor filming scheduled next week.
Grantville will be bringing in additional police personnel, presumably to assist with traffic and crowd control, to help their existing force. According to Grantville Mayor Jim Sells,
Our hope is that this brings more attention to our charming downtown historic area and we wind up with future filmings.
Anyone who’s been able to make it over to Senoia during the summer, when the town is converted into Woodbury for filming, knows how much attention having the show in your town can bring. There is also a normally welcome influx of fans and onlookers hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite character/actor. Hopefully this location works well for everyone involved and The Walking Dead can film there in the future as well.

I actually read it first from @danibrat on Twitter this morning, I just couldn’t get to a computer any sooner to make an actual post about it. I even read the Times-Herald.com local news page every morning before work, including this morning, and completely missed it. One of those days, but I honestly do appreciate all links and news that everyone sends.

Could you give a more detailed schedule for the outdoor filming in Grantville? I live close by in Auburn/Opelika, Alabama area and would love to come over and see the “zombies”. I actually would like to bring my teenage son who is terrified of zombies!

I’m afraid that article has all of the specifics that I know. I haven’t heard of a more detailed schedule (exact dates, times, etc) as of now. If I do find out anything specific, I’ll be sure to pass it along. I’ll also be passing along any updates I receive via Twitter, which will likely be the fastest way for me to relay information.

I live here in Grantville, and as of this morning there were setting up the set for a huge zombie attack. Cars, weapons and trash are littered on the streets, a tower is being built in the street. Pretty cool watching them film last night…even got to meet and take pictures with Andrew Lincoln..cool guy!! Was told they are to start back filming on Tuesday!!!!!

I have always even as a kid wanted to be in a zombie movie . I even had dreams of zombies . If I ever got to be a zombie in one movie I would be a deram come true . Any was keep it up I pray this never end and GOD Bless.
