As most of you know at this point, AMC’s The Walking Dead has been filming in Grantville, GA for the last week or so, and will continue to do so through at least this week. As some of you, who have tried to get up to Grantville to get pics, also have found out getting anywhere near the set has been pretty difficult, if not impossible. Considering how open to fans the cast and crew normally are while filming on location, it’s unusual to see such restricted access, but I’m sure it’s for a good reason.
Luckily for us we have some followers who live in Grantville and/or were able to get near the set at various times before security and the police closed things down. I’d like to thank Adam and Byron for sending these photos. The first photo is from Byron and is of the Gay, GA location from back in July. The other pictures from Byron, and Adam’s photos, are from Grantville.

Is this the same King County that Rick use to live in?
I believe it’s his hometown, yes. Some have suggested this may be a flashback episode, or at least portions of it.
I dont think itsa flashback unless michonne is in his flashback ? and remember Morgan and his son? from ep1 the little jeep he drives off in
well its sitting down town Grantville next to the thing their calling the zombie whistle.

I don’t think this will be a flashback either, given all that I’ve here. If anyone has read the graphic novels, Rick and Carl do end up back in their home town where Rick finds Morgan and his Son still in the house that they were staying in. I won’t say more than that because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read the graphic novels.
I am pretty sure from what i saw today that this is not a flashback in king county. It appears the have gone back to king county in present time. Ive watched a couple of scenes filmed and the new characters and scene setup is def no flashback but present time.
I don’t believe it will be a flashback for several reasons:
1. Glen Mazzara(the show runner, writer, producer) is very outspoken about his dislike for flashbacks. He says it doesn’t keep advancing the story forward and he thinks they are waste of time(although, I love seeing flashbacks!)
2. Andrew Lincoln would have to shave his beard and cut his hair. His hair is significantly longer than it was at the beginning of Season 1.
3. John Bernthal(Shane) is no longer around and Chandler Riggs( Carl) couldn’t
be used either as he has grown a lot since S1 and looks way older.
I am a resident of Grantville and my experience with the crew and poilce have been all good its not that hard to get in and watch the filming all they ask is that you be quite while film is rolling my son and i even got to meet and get autographs and pics with Andrew Lincon (Rick) and Chandler Riggs (Carl) today and they were extremely nice
and the thing in the middle of the street is called the zombie whistle .

L.Phillips. I would be forever very greatful if you could possibly send some photo’s of the cast and you and any inside information you learned from speaking with the cast my way. My wife and I are such huge fans of the show. She is currently undergoing some pretty intense cancer treatment and down in the dumps mentally and physically but I’m sure some of your pics might help lift her spirits

That is awesome L… I actually drove by earlier this evening around 6… looked like a bunch a people standing around, and not much action going on. I had the kids with me in the car, so I could really get out anyways. I live in LaGrange, so just about 20 minutes or so… What time is usually a good time to go?
also, my mom is in town from Birmingham, and she loves the show. So, if you have any advice on where to go and with whom to talk, let me know. I bet she would get a kick out of meeting Andrew Lincoln, although I am pretty sure she had a pretty big crush on Shane!
the best time is after 3 until they wrap around 8 or so
i cant say it just all depends on witch way they are filming as to where to park but i would say your best bet is on the back side of the big Methodist church and walk down the alley
you should see some of us their, as to getting to meet Andrew its a patent waiting game
but it usually pays off Wednesday he came over 4 times
the only cast members on the set for this shoot is Andrew,Chandler, Michonne,and Morgan

This all sounds so awesome! We would love to meet some of the cast – especially Andrew and Chandler. We’re actually going to drive seven hours to get there…we live in Florida. Plan on getting there Monday. Think it’s worth the drive? We are HUGE fans of the show! c :
Monday is the last day they are filming in Grantville… I was there watching yesterday and got to meet Rick/Andrew Lincoln.. He was very nice to everyone, I had my picture taken with him too, but it was very blurry… I’m gonna go back on Monday & try to get a better picture.. I live 6 blocks from where they were filming in Grantville.
are they filming tomorrow because of the rain today?? hope they are cause i would love to get by there just one time! its a great show really bringing together the ties than can break plp apart in this world we live in. love that they never stop trying to live an not let this world bring them down to the point of giving up!!
If your coming north on interstate 85 take exit 35 take a left and go under the bridge and take your 1st right and that road will take you straight to Zombieville
be careful and what ever you do don’t feed the walkers!!
how long will they be filming in grantville ga.? i live just around the corner in newnan an a big fan of the show an would love to see the set an maybe a few cast members an crew. my husband tried to get me to go this past sat. but i was so tired from work i had to rest. i hope to here from you soon!! ty
They wrapped up filming in Grantville on Monday but a little bird told me that they are coming back in Feb
Are there usually a lot of people waiting around to meet them or watch??
their are never over 20 or so but Monday who knows ,i live only a mile or so from the set also someone said that Laurie Holden (Andrea) is going to be on the set Monday and that they extended filming to Wednesday but cant be sure of that yet. but it should be worth the drive ,if your patient it will pay off Andrew Lincon is extremely nice and always tries to take care of his fans.
Me and my wife drove down from Anniston, AL about a 1h:45 drive. Was worth it for me just to see the set of one of my fav shows and getting to see Andrew. He came up to the crowd of 50 or so after they wrapped which was around 7:45. Wife doesn’t really care for the show. Never interested her, meh. I’m going back Monday.

Oh wow! I hope Laurie goes that would be amazing! We’ll for sure be there with lots of coffee after the long drive! We’ve got a lot of patience too we’re huge fans! Just seeing the set and meeting them will be a dream come true. Thanks for your help everyone! This site is the best!

Chandler came over Wednesday and took pics and autographs he has got to be the most polite little boy that i have ever met super nice, and as for Michonne well don’t hold your breath she was filming but that was it.
My son and I went down (we only live 20 minutes says) Thursday evening and got to watch a scene being filmed. We were able to see really well and Andrew & Chandler were only about 20′ away from us. We couldn’t stay very long so unfortunately we didn’t get to meet them. My son wnats to meet Chandler so bad so we may go back Monday evening

I live about 30-35 minutes away and I and 3 others went up today to see if anything was going on. One person that I went with (my friend’s dad) had went on Friday and met Andrew Lincoln (and also *****SPOILER!! saw the black guy from season 1). However, they were not filming today BUT we saw the set pictured above and also roamed around the trailers/catering area a little, which is right next to an old textile mill, but didn’t see anyone around. (We did get right next to the green Hyundai car they had on the show which was parked in that area.) One of the cops was really nice and said that they would be back filming tomorrow AND Tuesday there, so we are going back tomorrow for most of the day. I heard Andrew may or may not be on set tomorrow, but I would love to meet any of the cast (especially Norman or Steven)!
Anyone else who is going, look for me in the Keep Calm and Kill Zombies shirt!
We’ll be there! Hopefully a bunch of the cast are there! I have a hunch Michael Rooker (Merle) may be there as well… He’s dropping hints anyways that he’s getting back to working on the set so. Maybe we’ll get lucky!

There was a officer that said they were shooting Tuesday too but 2 “important looking” crew members said they were done. Wonder where they will shoot next……..
Filming in Grantville wasn’t the MOST exciting on Monday, but we did get to meet Chandler Riggs (Carl) and get pictures so it wasn’t a total bust either!
Also, I’ve heard they will be shooting in Senoia, GA on Thursday! I am headed back up there with the same people I was with on Monday. I don’t have another zombie shirt to wear but I may bring the same one and sling it on real quick if any of the cast comes over for pictures up there. See y’all there!

They are filming on Main Street in Senoia Thursday and Friday! They were all on set today at the production studio. We were there on Monday and had an amazing time! Got to meet Chandler (Carl), talk with him and his family, and got our pictures with him. We also toured around a bit and looked at a bunch of the season 1 and 2 filming locations thanks to your site! c : We’re hoping to make another trip up there again before they wrap – so if anyone hears they’re shooting more outdoors scenes keep us posted!
