On to part three (of however many this ends up being) of the photo update.  Between Photobucket having servers die on them, then server issues here, it seemed like I’d never get back to these so I apologize for the delay.

The pictures in this update are courtesy Ryan Golias.  He’s sent pictures of locations from both seasons we’ve seen as well as some from the current filming season.  They range from the gas station where we first meet Rick in the pilot episode, to the high school location in Newnan where Shane and Otis went looking for medical supplies, to Senoia’s transformation into Woodbury.  Thanks to Ryan for the pictures.

Staying in Newnan at the Hampton Inn, desk man said there will be some of thefilm crew arriving this evening If anyone knows where and if they are filming in this area let me know. I will post any and all pics I can manage to take. Also does anyone know if we could go see Hershals farmhouse, found it on map would love to see.

You cannot get close to Hershel’s farm, legally. However, you can see other Senoia, Grantville, Sharpsburg, and Newnan locations quite easily. Have fun!

Actually drove down that road by accident (no joke) this week, not realizing that it was the raod to Hershel’s farm. I had gotten lost while looking for another location, ran into the Raleigh Studios, turned around after getting an odd look from the guard at the gate. I told him I was lost, which I was and he told me to just turn around and drive out, which I did. upon leaving I turned right onto what turned out to be the road to Hershel’s farm. I realized where I was when I got to within view of the farm house and recognized it. At that point I just turned around again and drove back out. I figured I better get out of there before someone showed up to escourt me off or arrest me! No I didn’t take any photos I just wanted to get off of there before I had any problems. I did take some photos of the studio sign and entrance and of the entrance road to the farm though when I got back out. If anyone is interested in seeing them let me know. Oh, and I was glad I did leave when I did, as I passed a State Trooper car on my way back out to the main road. I wonder if he was looking for me? LOL!

Hershel’s farm is off Chestlenut road outside of Senoia but it has a private drive sign on it and you can’t get close enough to see anything.

  2. As Scott mentioned, you cannot get onto the property where Hershel’s farm is, legally. If you have permission from the owners, and I have no idea who they are, then please feel free. However, I would again take this time to remind everyone that many of these locations are on private property and I hope everyone will respect that and not enter anywhere they don’t have permission. I don’t want local property owners to start dreading the production team filming on their property because they’re worried what fans may do.

That said, from what I’ve read over the weekend, they’re going to be in Grantville this week, though I’ve also heard there’s a good bit of security and road closings there so being able to actually see any filming may be difficult.

Good luck, have fun, and be safe!

    Thanks for the pics.

Yes they are not being nice and letting us see anything. We just road out on the road they are filming on and it is totally blocked off with a cop sitting there to stop you. It’s so dark ou there, but you can see some ambient light, saw the production trucks, and the cop followed us out of the area. I am so disappointed. Why don’t they want fans to watch? It makes me made, to the point that I may not watch this season. In 1991 or 1992 I lived in Grainesville, Fl and they were filming “Doc Hollywood” with Michael J. fox. They had areas set up for us to go watch the filming. It was so nice and a neat experience. So why all the security, I would still watch if I new the ending. It’s just not vey fan friendly at all!!!!!

    • I think this is one of the very rare times they haven’t allowed fans to watch filming. I have tons of pictures that fans have taken while watching filming during the summer, and I’m sure there will be more in the future. They usually only block fans from watching if there’s something they don’t want getting out or want to keep secret. Considering how open the cast and crew are to the fans the majority of the time, I wouldn’t hold it against them if they want to keep something secret every now and then.

That sounds right to me. I live 1 mile away from the waterfall/old mill location from the season 2 finale. There’s no way you were getting close when filming. I had to detour around to get to work.

    Hello,

My special needs son is turning 13 in November and as an early birthday gift, his dad and I want to drive down from Mt. Juliet, Tennessee to Senioa, Georgia in the hopes that he will be able to catch a glimpse of some filming. Any suggestions on how I might find out where they will be filming the 1st week of October? I’ve called River Wood Studios, Coweta County Government, Senioa County Visitor Center, Newnan County News Herald and Coweta County Chamber of Commerce. All very nice folks, but none but the studio had that information and because of confidentialty laws, she couldn’t divulge any information. I would appreciate any help. Thank you :-)

Does anyone know if the waterfall location from the end of season 2 is on private property?

    • It is. However, you can actually see the waterfall and the grounds from the street. If you want to get any closer than the road, you’d be best off contacting the owner of the property (I believe his number is posted) and ask.
