In an article today from Times-Herald.com we learned that AMC’s The Walking Dead will continue filming over the next few days in Grantville, GA:
The board voted to approve the closure of a section of Coweta-Heard Road from noon on Sunday to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, for filming of “The Walking Dead.”
UPDATE: According an additional article today (Sunday, 9/9/12) they’ll be on location in Grantville all this week.
Mayor Jim Sells said the set – used to film Episode 12 of Season 3 of the AMC zombie series – will remain in place until Monday, Sept. 17, when filming concludes.
hello. I just want to know if they’re still looking for extras as zombies?
If they are, they aren’t doing it publicly. I haven’t seen a casting call for the show since before season three filming began.
Does anyone know if you can get near to see anything or if its closed off?
Well, I’ve heard both. I’ve heard from some that police have blocked off the roads and you can’t see much. Then I’ve heard from some who live in Grantville who were able to watch filming and actually met a member of the cast. It could literally go either way. If you’re local, it’s worth a shot to drive out there, if you’re driving from a long distance away, perhaps not.
We’ve been able to watch in Senioa. You just need to be quite and respectful. And super sneaky with your camera.
what i think is weird the article says sunday at noon but i thought they didnt film on the weekend just on the weekdays
Yeah, it’s unusual to catch them filming on a weekend. I suppose if that’s the only time they can get the location, they have to take it.
well thats cool i live about 12 miles down the road so maybe ill get a chance to see some filming im off tommorow from work
Was just in Grantville and they are not filming right now. The roads are blocked, but I think that is just to guard the props. I was told Friday night that they were not coming back til tuesday. But you never know.
They get the permits to include set up time. That’s why they start Sunday. Actual filming won’t start until Monday.
i went to grantville today i talked to policeman doing security he told me they would start filming tuesday afternoon didnt say what time exactly.You can see most of the set and it looks awesome.
Went to grantville today but the cops and security would not let you get know where the filming site.All roads were closed nearby i was disapointed

I’ve been by the set a few times within the last week since I live in Grantville. Today there was sporadic gunfire during the morning while they were filming. This afternoon I went by and snapped a few photos just before I was told that taking photos was prohibited…whoops. Still got a few though
Wish I cared, I’m pretty much right across the street, could take all the photos I want.
For the interested, traffic is blocked off on Main Street (pretty small area.) But I’ve driven by the site everyday. Sometimes they shut my road down for a few minutes, but there are ways to get close.
I’m just glad the gun shots have stopped! I knew what was going on, but still ducked for cover!
