In the opening scenes of the show we see Rick pull up to an intersection looking for gas and walk down a hill to a gas station where he encounters a zombie.
Here are a few screen captures of this scene:

As you can see from these location shots, the team behind the show did an excellent job of turning this every day intersection and gas station into the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse.

This intersection is located in Fairburn, GA.

just a question: vehicules on these scenes are real or were they added by computer? I mean, did they cut the traffic and put real cars there?
It’s a combination of both. They trucked in some disabled cars for many scenes but some of the establishing shots have a few CGI vehicles in them.
I noticed that diesel has gone up.Probably gas too. Who’d a thought zombies lead to cheaper go go juice for my car!
The intersection is Highway 154 and Highway 92 in south Fulton county. Fairburn is about 5 miles SSE. The gas station is called Charlies. Behind the little girl in the scene from the movie is a church. Campbellton United Methodist Church.
