This photo sharing update contains photos sent to me from Ross Pope earlier this week. Ross was driving home from Atlanta and decided to drive through the Senoia area with his girlfriend to take a look at some filming locations.

As seen in another photo sharing update earlier this week, Ross too was able to get some photos of the signatures in the Woodbury Shoppe left behind by some of the cast and crew who have visited the store in Senoia, as well as other locations in the Senoia area. He also enclosed some nice photos of the back of the Woodbury Town Hall set facade.

Photo Sharing (43)

This photo sharing update is coming to us thanks to Brittany C from Birmingham, AL. If that name sounds familiar, that’s because Brittany has sent in other photos recently as well.

This time, Brittany was able to make it to several filming sites including the studio on the first day of production back on May 6th. Her pictures, the few she was able to take in that area, show how packed the studio lot is. You’ll also notice the large trailers in the lot. I believe these are the large trailers the makeup crew works out of, which Greg Nicotero commented that the makeup team likes to use even when filming is going on at the studio. If so, then these same trailers will follow the production crew as filming moves around to various sites and if you see them, there’s a good chance filming is nearby.

Brittany also included some photos from around Senoia, the ESCO feed mill where so many of season three’s final episodes were filmed, and the Oaks Inn in Newnan where Merle hot-wired a car while attempting to take Michonne back to the Governor.

Photo Sharing (42)

The photos in this photo sharing update were sent to us courtesy of Erica who was en route to Atlanta recently and decided to stop off in Senoia for some sightseeing and photos. She was able to get some photos of Senoia itself, as well as some of the vehicle storage area near the post office where the vehicles are staged for upcoming filming.

I also have some photos courtesy of Clint Carrington who traveled over to Senoia to see if anything was going on recently and was also able to get some photos of the vehicle staging area. I’ve heard this fenced in area is near the post office in Senoia but I don’t have an actual address. Clint mentioned that the grass is starting to grow long in Senoia and there are detour signs up in the area but they are currently covered with bags.

I’ve heard talk that filming is set to resume in Senoia soon but have not heard an actual date yet.

Photo Sharing – Lady Brew Photography

This photo sharing update comes to us courtesy of Laci Brewer.  Laci is a photography student who made a trip to Georgia recently to get some photos of as many filming locations as she could fit into a day’s drive.  She was able to get to quite a few locations and as you’ll see in the photos, had some beautiful Georgia spring weather to accompany her.  She was able to visit locations around Newnan, including Newnan High School,  the daycare Maggie and Daryl visit, and the “arena” location.  She also travelled down to Grantville, the location of season two’s “Clear”, as well as Senoia.

Photo Sharing (41)

Today’s photo sharing update comes courtesy of Jerry Beharry. Jerry made a visit to Senoia and Grantville recently and was able to send in some great photos. In many instances, Jerry also included comparison shots of the location along with that location from the show itself. Jerry’s photos also show the new fencing that’s been installed at the studio to keep onlookers off the grounds. My best advice regarding the studio is to just steer clear of it since there is much more activity there now that the show is back in production and security will definitely not allow you to loiter very long, if at all.

Photo Sharing (40)

Now that we’ve had some photos from current filming, I’m going to finish up some photo sharing updates I’ve had queued up for a couple of days. Today’s photo sharing update comes to us courtesy of Steve. Steve made a trip to Grantville, and later Senoia, on a recent location site self tour and was able to get some great shots. While in Grantville, Steve took the tour of the filming sites offered courtesy of Grantville Mayor Jim Sells. While touring the apartment which served as Morgan’s residence in “Clear”, Steve found out that they’re currently in the process of restoring* the apartment to the condition it was in for filming and was able to get photographs of this early in the process.

(*Update note: The restoration of the apartment is not being done by the show’s production staff, but rather by the property’s owner.  As far as I know, it is not being done in anticipation of any filming, but just to have it as it was when the episode, “Clear”, was filmed there.)

On the trip to Senoia, Steve stopped in The Woodbury Shoppe and took some photos of the walls that the cast and crew from The Walking Dead have signed. Another great reason to stop in the store if you visit Senoia, along with all of the great souvenirs they offer.

Steve took quite a few photos, over 100, and it was difficult picking a few to post. However, since these were the first I’ve seen of the apartment renovation during the process, I included as many as possible. Thank you Steve for sharing these photos and allowing me to share them with fellow fans.

Location Photos – Griffin, GA

As I mentioned yesterday afternoon/evening, I was sent some photos on Facebook of the location being used Monday, May 13th, for season four filming. The location is in Griffin, GA on North Expressway between between Ellis Road and Lyndon Avenue. Thanks to Alexander Cain, for sharing the photos with me, and for letting me know more about this area, also called Ellis Crossing, in Griffin:

This is an old Wal-Mart and Winn Dixie combination parking lot.

Our Super Wal-Mart was constructed here in Griffin, Georgia up the road from this particular set about ten or so years ago. The location of this set is where the Wal-Mart used to be, but Winn Dixie was its next door neighbor in the same parking lot. So either reference is correct. Most people think of it as the old Wal-Mart lot just for sentimental reasons, and also because a lot of people (me included) tend to forget we used to have a Winn Dixie right where the “Big Spot” is right now. So the “Big Spot” exterior is, technically, the former Winn Dixie, but to call it Wal Mart would work too.

As far as I can tell this is a single-day shoot.

Alexander also told me that rumor is there was going to be a plane crashed into the building, or that it was going to be made to look that way. Of course we probably won’t know for sure unless someone is there to view the filming or until we see it on the screen this fall.

Not long after Alexander’s message and photos, I also received some additional photos from other fans in the area.

Event Calendar

For those who watch the site and may not know about it yet, I do not believe I’ve publicly mentioned it, I’m planning to keep an ongoing Events Calendar this season for filming and events related to AMC’s The Walking Dead. I’ve updated it this evening to include information about very probable filming taking place in Griffin, GA this coming Monday (May 13th, 2013).

The events calendar will be a place I can consolidate information and give fellow fans an easy place to view possible upcoming filming dates and info without having to look back through past posts. I don’t know that I’ll make a post every time I update it, but all information that I know will be there so be sure to keep an eye on it.

Also, for those who may not have the information already, be sure to follow me on Twitter and Facebook for updates as well. I try to update those as well as the site, but can’t always update all three at the same time.

Today’s photo sharing update comes to us by way of Theresa from Newnan, GA. Theresa visited a few locations, while out hunting for more, and sent in some photos from Oaks Inn in Newnan as well as a location we haven’t seen very many pictures of; the daycare Daryl and Maggie visited in season three hunting for supplies for Sophia. Theresa also sent in some photos from the Caldwell Tanks location which, as many fans remember, was the site of the arena where the zombie fights took place.

Today’s photo sharing update comes from Chip. Chip and his family visited several of the filming locations on their trip including Senoia (Woodbury), Haralson, and Newnan. While in Senoia, Chip was even able to get a great, and rare, photo with several of the extras from the show who were on hand for a fundraiser that day.

It looks like a great time was had by all and I want to thank Chip for sending in photos from his experience as well as allowing me to share them with fans.
